Maintenance and Care Instructions

At Compass Carts, we build equipment designed for the outdoors — rugged, dependable, and built to work as hard as you do. Proper maintenance will protect your investment and keep your cart performing season after season.

🧼 General Cleaning

After each use — especially in mud, sand, snow, or salt conditions — we recommend:

  • Rinsing the cart with low-pressure water

  • Using a mild soap and soft brush or cloth to remove debris

  • Drying thoroughly before storage to prevent moisture buildup

Avoid high-pressure washers directly on bearings, joints, or moving components.

🟡 Slide Rail Care (Yellow Slides)

The slide system is designed for smooth operation under load.

Recommended Care:

  • Use a silicone spray lubricant

  • Spray onto a cloth or paper towel (a little goes a long way)

  • Wipe onto the yellow slides on both the cart and rack

This reduces friction and keeps operation smooth without attracting excessive dirt.

🔩 Joint & Pivot Lubrication

To maintain smooth folding and adjustment:

  • Apply WD-40 (or similar light lubricant) to moving joints and pivot points as needed

  • Wipe away excess to avoid buildup

Regular lubrication prevents squeaks, stiffness, and corrosion.

🛠 Arm Bar Slot Maintenance

For the ½-inch arm bar slots:

  • Apply a light coat of grease periodically

  • Especially important if used in wet or muddy environments

This ensures smooth adjustment and prevents wear over time.

🛞 Wheels & Tires

  • Check tire pressure regularly (if pneumatic)

  • Inspect for debris embedded in tread

  • Tighten axle hardware if necessary

  • Store away from prolonged direct sunlight when possible

Proper wheel maintenance ensures easier hauling and longer tire life.

📦 Storage Recommendations

When not in use:

  • Store in a dry, covered location

  • Avoid long-term exposure to moisture

  • If storing for extended periods, lightly lubricate moving components beforehand

⚠️ Seasonal Inspection Checklist

Before each season:

  • Inspect all bolts and fasteners

  • Check frame for damage or stress

  • Confirm rack locking points are secure

  • Test folding and slide mechanisms

  • Ensure wheels spin freely
